After adjusting the color scheme and roof lines, Minden Town Board members approved a major design review for the new Springhill Suites Marriott in the parking lot just west of the Carson Valley Inn.

The four-story hotel will include 102 rooms and will be 45 feet tall. Parking will include 128 new spaces, and a new parking area in the northwest corner, with 177 more parking spaces.

Town board members sent the design back for revision in December, saying they wanted something that was a little more compatible with the town’s aesthetic.

The Jan. 10 meeting will likely be the only opportunity for the public to weigh in on the hotel’s design.

The new design created a more understated roof line. The color scheme added a sand color in addition to two shades of green.

It has been just over a year since Carson Valley Inn principal partner Mike Pegram said he was talking with Mariott about bringing a hotel to Minden.

Pegram purchased the Carson Valley Inn from founders Patrick and Jeane Mulreany in 2010. He took over Sharkey’s in Gardnerville on Dec. 4, 2014, and reopened it the following year after a complete remodel.
