Baseball: Nevada to face defending CWS champ Fresno State

The Nevada baseball team (22-20, 7-4 WAC) just completed a 12-game home stand going 8-4, the last five were nonconference games but the final 12 games of the regular season will be Western Athletic Conferene contests beginning this weekend at the home of the defending College World Series and WAC Champion Fresno State (20-23, 4-8 WAC) Bulldogs. The Wolf Pack and Bulldogs square off on Friday night at Pete Beiden Field at 6:05 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader gets underway at 2:05 p.m. with the fourth and final game of the series scheduled for 1:05 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.


The two teams met nine times last season with each team winning three-of-four games at home. FS won the ninth game 6-4 in Ruston, La. to claim the WAC Tournament title. The Bulldogs hold a 26-18 series advantage in WAC play including a 16-6 record at Pete Beiden Field in conference play. Overall FS leads the series 68-44.
