Genoa, Nev. — East Fork firefighters and Douglas County deputies responded to a 7 a.m. vehicle collision in the 1300 block of Kimmerling near James Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos today. Initial report is someone was backing out of their driveway and was struck by a school bus that sideswiped it. No students are injured, but the other driver was being checked out for a back injury.

I got word the Gardnerville Ranchos boil water order has been lifted. The actual good news there is that the water never tested positive for bacteria.

The East Fork at Horseshoe Bend continues to come in a lower than forecast with the 6 a.m. reading today at 12.16 feet, 9 inches short of the forecast 12.9 feet. The amplitude has been flattening out, too. It’s supposed to get much higher when the melt-off arrives for real.

An appeal of a $20,000 fine goes before the Vacation Home Rental Advisory Board 1 p.m. today at Kahle Community Center. The property on Lincoln Circle was subject to a similar issue last year. The owner said he’s renting for a minimum of 29 days, though some renters might not stay that long. The board meets 1 p.m. at Kahle Community Center.

Code Enforcement is turning its attention to Carson Valley looking for non-permitted business signs throughout the county and will provide informational flyers on how to become compliant with sections 20.618 and 20.620 of the county codes.

Warm temperatures forecast for the next four days prompted a special statement from the National Weather Service. Today is forecast to hit 74 degrees under sunny skies with a light breeze of 5 mph out of the northwest this afternoon.
