Genoa, Nev. — Tree plantings are scheduled for Genoa, Gardnerville and Alpine County today. I’ll be at Gardnerville’s this afternoon if the weather cooperates.
The Business Showcase was well attended on Thursday night with around 1,000 visitors. That's not bad given the construction in downtown.
If you’re using Centerville to get around the construction in downtown Gardnerville anticipate a lot of pedestrian traffic for the St. Gall Spring Rummage Sale through 3 p.m. today. I anticipate there are cars parked on either side of the road already this morning.
An artists reception is 5-7 p.m. today at Whit Hall on the River Fork Ranch to start a three-day show by the Carson Valley Photo Club this weekend.
Saturday will be the big free day for the Western Heritage Festival. Expect downtown Genoa to be shut down around 2 p.m. for an hour for the Invitational Horse Parade.
If you’ve got prescription drugs you need to dispose of, the Prescription Roundup is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the Sheriff’s Office in Minden and both Walmarts. South County residents can visit Station 4 in Topaz Ranch Estates and Tahoe residents can go to the Roundhill Safeway.
The forecast calls for showers before 2 p.m. and a snow level of 6,200 feet. We could see the sun today, with a high temperature of 55 degrees. The wind will be 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is predicted to fall in Minden.
