At least two veterans groups with ties to Carson Valley have had to find new meeting places over the next few years.

The Fleet Reserve Association Sierra-Tahoe Branch & Unit 137 has had to find a new location for their monthly meetings, according to spokeswoman Joyce Jackson.

“The Veterans Hall in Carson City, where they have met for the last several years is being retrofitted for earthquake safety and will be under construction for at least two years,” she said.  “Fortunately, a new location has been determined at the Carson City First United Methodist Church (just a few blocks away) that will accommodate the classroom and kitchen facilities needed to continue the multiple charitable activities that the Branch and Unit do for veterans, their families and the community throughout the year.”

Chapter 7 of the Disabled American Veterans will be meeting at a new location 5:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Carson City Airport 2600 E. College Parkway in Carson City, Nevada.

Social time begins at 5:30 with light refreshments and the meeting begins at 6 p.m.
