Genoa, Nev. — East Fork firefighters responded to a garage fire 10:20 a.m. Wednesday on Eagle Mountain Road in Topaz Ranch Estates. There was also a collision around 6:15 p.m. at Highway 395 and Johnson Lane that involved a pickup and a semi required firefighters to extricate the pickup driver.


Chain controls are in effect over Kingsbury and around Lake Tahoe this morning as a winter weather advisory continues through 10 a.m. today. There was definitely some precipitation up top with snow telemetry in Heavenly Valley indicating 5 inches since the storm arrived late Wednesday afternoon.


Airport Advisory Board hopefuls Richard Chapman and Tim Gardner are joined by former East Fork Swimming Pool District Trustee Doug Robbins in seeking a position on the board. Robbins is also a pilot and member of the Mosquito Abatement District board. County commissioners meet 10 a.m. today at the Douglas County Courthouse in Minden.


Assistant County Manager Scott Morgan is being recognized at today’s Douglas County commissioner meeting for 30 years service. Morgan was the best of 130 candidates when the county announced his hiring in December 1993 in The Record-Courier.


The Carson River Basin pushed up to 73 percent of median thanks to a somewhat damp February, going from 11.1 inches snow-water equivalent on Feb. 1 to 18.2 inches this morning at Ebbetts Pass which feeds the East Fork. Blue Lakes is up to 83 percent.


Last night’s storm was fairly wet, with .48 inches pf rain in my gauge a mile north of Genoa. The NV Energy gauge in Genoa recorded .46 inches, so it isn’t just me. Fredericksburg resident Jeff Garvin reported .29 inches. Minden’s running ahead of average with 2.58 inches since Jan. 1.

The forecast calls for a chance of rain early followed by partly cloudy skies and a high temperature of 46 degrees.
