A Tuesday morning traffic collision in the Gardnerville Ranchos occurred when the driver of the pickup had what investigators are characterizing as a medical accident and crossed over into the opposing lane hitting a SUV head-on, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The force of the collision resulted in a Dodge Ram pickup and a white SUV in the front yard of a home at the corner of Tillman Lane and Yellowjacket Drive around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Posters to social media said the woman in the SUV sustained injuries in the collision. The Record-Courier has reached out to the person who posted that to confirm.

Douglas County deputies and East Fork firefighters responded to the crash.

The vehicles stopped nose to nose with the back of the SUV up on a rock as the airbags deployed.
