Genoa, Nev. — On Wednesday, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Bureau of Land Managment issued a final finding of no significant impact and a decision record for the Painted Rock Mine project. Commissioners are scheduled to introduce an ordinance banning truck traffic on Johnson Lane east of Nye Drive today.


There is an appeal process that prevents excavation from the mine until mid-August. Residents have 30 days to appeal the decision at paintedrockmineproject.org, according to the Decision of Record.


NV Energy crews restored power to Double Spring residents after replacing five poles and eight wire spans overnight. Nevadafireinfo.org reported the Spring Valley Fire was contained at 8 p.m. Wednesday.


Air quality indicators are in the mid-good range this morning from smoke coming from the fires burning up in Oregon, Idaho and Montana.
