Genoa, Nev. — It was pretty hazy to the north of us on Monday due to smoke from the Park Fire, which mapped out at nearly 614 square miles on the Fire Information for Resource Management this morning. It appears to be burning along the eastern flank.

Airnow.gov shows our window of relatively clear air is slowly shrinking. Carson City’s air quality was barely in the moderate range this morning, while the Ranchos indicates mid-good range. Forecasters are predicting the smoke will make it down here by Wednesday.

Both vehicles involved in a collision at Drayton and Dresslerville 11:20 a.m. Monday had to be towed from the scene, though it didn’t sound like anyone took an ambulance ride.

There were three collisions that occurred right around 5 p.m. Friday, with two within sight of one another on Foothill Road. A motorcyclist with a head injury declined a ride in CareFlight while there was no report of injuries for a vehicle that ended up in the rocks. A three- or four-vehicle collision was reported at Riverview and Highway 395 around the same time.

A Nevada Division of Forestry helicopter flew a couple of loops over Minden while conducting training on Monday afternoon. I wasn’t quick enough with the camera to quite capture it in flight.

The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature near 89 degrees today with the wind out of the west at 5-10 mph this afternoon. Tonight’s low is forecast to hit 52 degrees before temperatures begin to climb again.
