Genoa, Nev. — Today’s Douglas County commissioners meeting starts at 9 a.m. today with the liquor board and the first seven items on the agenda, including a proclamation honoring longtime Community Services Director Scott Morgan for 31 years of service.

There are a couple of Lake Tahoe issues to deal with in the morning agenda, including introduction of an ordinance regarding VHRs north of Cave Rock and debate on approving the South Shore ordinance revisions that don’t include anything to do with Barton’s move to Stateline.

Commissioners are scheduled to break from noon to 2 p.m. to attend Morgan’s farewell luncheon at the CVIC Hall. Then it’s back to work on the nearly three dozen appointments to various boards.

The introduction of the ordinance eliminating the elected position of public administrator, establishing a separate fund for the deceased’s assets and the budget wraps up what promises to be a very long day for commissioners.

High Sierra Fly Casters fly fishing club begins its four-part third Thursday fly-tying workshops 6 p.m. today at The Nature Conservancy’s River Fork Ranch Preserve, 381 Genoa Lane. Visit hsfc.us for more information.

It appears the Sierra Front is looking at another dry week with no precipitation in the forecast through Jan. 21. While the snowpack remains fairly stable in the upper elevations, anything at or around 6,000 feet is well behind the median, according to the Natural Resources Conservation Service telemetry.

Today certainly won’t be contributing with sunny skies and a forecast high temperature of 53 degrees and calm conditions.
