Genoa, Nev. — St. Gall Catholic Church announced the death of Father John Corona on Wednesday. He was 91. He arrived in Carson Valley in July 1977 and was here in 1984 when St. Gall built the new church on Centerville Lane. He was named one of The R-C’s 150 most influential people in 2011.

Carson Valley Community Theatre is hosting a “Pay What You Can Pick-Up Rehearsal” for “The Sweet Delilah Swim Club” 7:30 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden. It's Toddler Time 9-11 a.m. today at the Community Center for toddlers 9 months to 5 years old. The cost is $3 per child. The Easter Toddler Time is April 10.

It was a blustery night, with Sheridan reporting a 51 mph wind gust at 3:50 a.m. There were some 40 mph gusts in Fish Springs, Jacks Valley and along Highway 88 between Mottsville and Centerville.

A wind advisory is in effect through 8 p.m. today across Western Nevada, so expect more of the same with southwest winds 20-30 mph gusting to 50 mph, with 100 mph over the ridgetops. With waves 2-4 feet high on Lake Tahoe, it’s probably a good idea to stay off the water.

We might see some showers after 11 a.m., with a high temperature of around 61 degrees. The snow level is forecast to drop to 6,700 feet this afternoon and then to 5,400 feet after midnight.
