With a long cold New Year's weekend ahead it's probably a good idea to buckle up and keep an eye out for the other guy on the roads.
It has happened in the past and I didn't know what it meant until last week, when it happened again. I returned home from an errand in town and my answering machine was flashing. As I played the message I realized the people calling didn't mean to and the message recorded their private conversation. Now this could be an embarrassing message depending, although I recognized the voices on my machine.
Toddler and preschool story times at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden return to the castle Jan. 4, and continue Tuesdays through March 15.
The county seat of Douglas county, established at Genoa in 1861, will be moved to Minden tomorrow in accordance with an act of the Nevada legislature of 1915. A fine new $25,000 court house has been completed at Minden and awaits the arrival of the county officers and records. History tells us that the first public meeting in what is now Nevada, of which there is any record, was held at "Morman Station," now Genoa, Nov. 12, 1851.
The Carson Valley Art Association's annual Scholarship Benefit Art Show was Nov. 6 and 7 at the CVIC Hall in Minden. The show was produced by the volunteer members of the art association and committee head Margaret Biggs.
