Fight animal testing

By now most people have probably seen the television reports of Lacy, the little dog whose owner tied her to a tree, hit her in the face with a golf club, poured bleach in her eyes and left her tied up for four days. I sincerely hope as many as can will help with the little dog's veterinary care.

It's the time of year that we want to spend with friends and family. If they aren't near where you live, please be careful if you are on the road. With the weather we have had, it is so important to take our time and watch out for ice, snow, and traffic.

Noel Christmas Day dinner

The Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School Choir and Steel Drum Band will be featured in the "John Tyson's Christmas Special," airing 11 p.m. Friday on KOLO-TV Channel 8.

God is always with us

When we read the account of the birth of Jesus in Matthew 1:18-25, we find a prophetic fulfillment taken from the Old Testament book of Isaiah written well before the event. Isaiah 7:14, "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel."

Preventing snow and ice damage

Winter injury to trees and shrubs can be a problem, particularly after storms. Minimize potential damage with a few winterization practices. To reduce ice and snow problems, selectively prune long, top-heavy, crossing or weak branches.
