Good job during outage

Kudos to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Emergency Management and Communications, East Fork Fire Protection District, Carson City Sheriff, NHP and other agencies I may not know about in regard to the actions taken to protect all county citizens on Dec. 8 during the massive loss of most telephone communications.

Options to pipeline for Sunrise Estates

I have a really simple and really cheap solution to the problem of arsenic in the Sunrise Estates water system. This solution could also be applied to any other Douglas County water systems with elevated levels of arsenic or other contaminates.

Remember when for Dec. 15

Anita Baldwin, daughter of the late E.J. Baldwin, has gone back to the days of the crusades for the design for the magnificent hotel with which she will replace the Hotel Tallac on the shores of Lake Tahoe. The inspiration for the architecture comes from the ancient castle of the Counts of Ghent in Flanders, where a thousand years ago dwelt Baldwin de Lys from whom the Baldwin family traces its lineage.

Good weather for a motorcycle ride

With the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the holidays it was so nice to have good weather over this past weekend to escape for lunch. We filled up with fuel and headed out on the motorcycle to Bridgeport via Highway 395 south to Holbrook Junction Highway 208 East. When we got to Wellington we hooked a south on Highway 338 which is a right at the "Y." That took us through Sweetwater Canyon. If you haven't been, it's gorgeous. Not too many cars came from the other direction even though it was a weekend.

Kudos to Carson Valley

The people of this community are so amazing. Once again you came through and we were able to give turkey dinners to all those on the list for Thanksgiving and our Channel 2 food drive was a tremendous success. We so love it when you make it possible for our community to generate more pounds of donations than Carson City and Reno.
